As specified in its Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, TravelCenters of America Inc. and its subsidiaries (the “Company”) are committed to ensuring that its employees act in accordance with the highest standards of personal and professional integrity in all aspects of their activities and comply with all applicable laws, regulations and Company policies. The Company conducts its business in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations and expects all those accepting a position with it or providing services to it to be accountable for compliance with the law.
The Company does not currently: (1) engage in verification of product supply chains to evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery; (2) conduct audits of suppliers to evaluate supplier compliance with company standards for trafficking and slavery in supply chains; (3) specifically require direct suppliers to certify that materials incorporated into their products comply with the laws regarding slavery and human trafficking of the country or countries in which they are doing business, but the Company’s agreements with many of its suppliers require the supplier to warrant and represent that all products supplied to the Company and all business practices of the supplier in connection with the products shall comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations that govern such products and business practices;
(4) maintain internal accountability standards and procedures for employees or contractors failing to meet company standards regarding slavery and human trafficking; or (5) provide employees and management, who have direct responsibility for supply chain management, training on human trafficking and slavery. Since May 2011, the Company, in conjunction with Truckers Against Trafficking, has been providing its employees with training on the prevalence of human trafficking and what to do if the employee suspects human trafficking is occurring on its premises.
